Yes, folks -- they're all here!

  • "Dear Aaron,

The epiphone comet arrived today, I am totally satisfied. You guys did a great packing job, and made it easy for even me to put it together. Happy Holidays"

    -Bill

  • "Thanks a ton for the reply. You seem to be one of the nicest guys that I've ever had the pleasure of buying merchandise off of. Are all your prices set, or are you willing to go lower on prices? How about if I were to buy multiple......."

    -Jarrid McGuire

  • "Aaron:

Thank you so much for all of your patient and knowledgeable assistance! It has been a pleasure dealing with you and I will definitely recommend you and The Trading Musician to my friends who share my interest in vintage tube amps!"

    -J.D. Harness

  • "Hi Aaron

My Ludwig kit arrived yesterday. They were packed very very well, thank you. I played them at a 60's reunion show last night, they looked and sounded awesome. There was three bands playing, all the musicians loved them and asked where I got them, I highly recommended they check out The Trading Musician online. Thank you for the T-shirt, sticks and stickers and stuff."

    -Blair Zinck

  • From Yelp.com:

"Like a kid in a candy store, I perused the vast collection of guitars, amps, and pedals with excitement. How can any guitarist not be excited by a whole wall of effects pedals? Sure everything's used, but that means finding vintage goodies that are no longer made. The staff is pretty friendly, can't rate them on their repairs yet."
    -Cameron L.

  • "Oh man. This boy got the serious shakes just walking in the place, almost had to step outside to get my breath again. There before me, some of the coolest guitars known to man. All just hanging there, pleading with me to take them down, caress their lacquer finish, twang their perfect strings... **sigh**

    Ahem.

Well, it's really a guitarist's, and guitar collectors, heaven. Electric, acoustic, classical, just about everything having to do with string instruments you’ll find there, and have someone around to tell you all about it, they’ll even call him from the back where he’s taking a lunch break, and he’ll trot out to tell you how cool that 1963 Harmony Rocket is.

Oh, and upstairs is drummer’s heaven, full of used drums, but I dare not venture there, for the temptation to engage in a 15-minute drum solo is too much for me.
Great store, check it out, bring money.”
    -Tom S.

  • From Judysbook.com:

“Need to find the perfect instrument, but don’t want to pay a high price? well, if you don’t mind using a used, recycled one, this is a perfect place to look for one. they have everything from the perfect drum set to give your fifteen year old for Christmas, to the antique, beautiful violin for your aunt jane for her birthday! staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. don’t forget to pick up some earplugs!
    -Bethany E.

  • From Insiderpages.com:

“I have had better luck finding good quality/interesting/reasonably priced music gear at The Trading Musician than at any other music equipment shop in town that I can think of. They especially had a nice rack of guitar pedals and things like that, and they were very friendly and helpful when I had questions/requests.”
    -Johnathan W.

  • “The accustic section is an absolute must see. They have all kinds of crazy instruments. Tons of mandolins and these little finger picking things. Upstairs is keyboards, noisemakers, percussions, xylophones, strange electronic music devices. They have lots of used amplifiers and some electric guitars hanging around. They also have tons of accessories. Really a candy store for musicians.”
    -Joshua S.

  • “The Trading Musician has the look of a pawn shop and the customer service of a angsty/elitist music shop, which, is what you can expect. Don’t try asking a simple question because you will get the what-do-you-mean-you-don’t-know-as-much-about music-as-I-do look, which nobody likes. I will say this, when I had to sell my drumkit, they gave me the best price."

    Pros: “fair” prices on trade-ins
    Cons: snooty
    -Todd B.

  • “Being a girl guitar player, I’ve had my share of getting ignored at the counter of a guitar shop when all I need is a pack of strings or a few picks. This has never happened to me at Trading Musician. In fact, once when I was there shopping for mics, the mic salesman actually talked to me like I just might know what I’m talking about. It was amazing. I love these guys. And they have great deals on new & used amps!"

Pros: They’re not just a bunch of metalhead frat guys who like to play “Watchtower” on their Fender Strats. I think they actually know about the stuff they’re selling.
    Cons: Good luck finding parking.
    -Kim R.

  • From 43places.com:

    "Worth visiting!"

“Trading Musician used to be the cat’s meow, and to a degree it still is: rows of uncommon, vintage, used instruments and accessories. The staff is super helpful, particularly when discussing the merits of vintage guitars, drums, and keys. However, Ebay has resulted in inflated asking prices for lots of the gear at Trading Musician. In fact, they’re often above market value on lots of their items. I still go, and I still love the feel of this place more than any other music store in Seattle. But don’t go thinking you’ll get a bargain – that possibility used to exist, but The Trading Musician has updated it’s frayed exterior with a bit of price gouging.

Okay, enough ranting. You need to go here and smell the abundance of used gear. Probably the best thing is to shop for the electric guitars and other music gizmos that aren’t (yet) hip and therefore are priced to move. Glorious Japanese guitars of years past for any budget.

The Steattle music store landscape would not be the same without the ugly step-brother that is The Trading Musician.”
